According to Mark Kistler—who is the author of a few how-to-draw-3D books and also had his own show for a while—if you don't draw for at least one hour a day you run the risk of your brain turning into a giant marshmallow.
You wouldn't want your brain to turn into a marshmallow, now would you?
So get your creativity, pencils and paper (or your story-writing ability if you’re a writer) and get ready for some marshmallow-y goodness!



Basic rules

Artists and writers alike rejoice! There is finally a contest for people who like marshmallows.

Draw a picture with/write a story about something to do with marshmallows, marshmallows, and even more marshmallows!
Want to draw a picture with one of your characters dressed as a marshmallow? Go ahead, no one’s stopping you!
Want to write a story about a giant marshmallow that storms through the city destroying everything and is named Marshzilla? Great!
This is all for the fun and amusement of the artists, writers, viewers, and readers. Everyone gets enjoyment out of marshmallows.

There are a few things that WILL NOT be tolerated in entries:
-Nudity (not that anyone would do a marshmallow picture with nudity in it in the first place... O.o)
-Inappropriate...ness...
-Please, no horror stuff. Its fine with pretty much most other contests here on deviantART, but seriously, this is supposed to be light-hearted and okay for all ages.
-Using an old picture/story you made a while ago. Sorry, but this is to help get rid of artists’/writers’ block, not to give you a purpose for that old random picture with a marshmallow you made last summer and forgot about.
-Oh yes, and swearing is FORBIDDEN. Sorry...but like I already said, this is supposed to be child-friendly...

Stuff you need to read

Anyone is allowed to join and we want to keep this as fairly child-friendly as possible. :3

I’m not sure when the deadline will be so… please, if you would, keep an eye out for updates on this.

My subbie is gone, so make do with the format of this page. Sorry...

Once I get all the entries in I will judge. I can't until we have all of them in. ...Though, I know I have to be patient because ~wingsgirl's scanner isn't working. So you can take your time in getting your entries in if you don't have them in already. (Don't think any of this means I'm not open to having anyone else join; if you want to join, I would love it if you did.)
Also...Please, we need more people to write stories! I know writing a story about a marshmallow is weird, but we only have one person so far who has written one! ...Never mind.

Once I get my subscription back, I WILL judge. Okay? Okay. So keep your eye out for when the little "~" thing behind my username turns into a "*"

Note to artists

Hello all artists out there. Here are the rules for you people:
Draw a picture with something to do with marshmallows. It HAS to have a drawing of a marshmallow somewhere in it or it doesn’t qualify for Marshmallow Mania.
(Helpful hint: Colored pictures are more likely to win. Despite how easy it is to just sketch out a picture then scan it and post it, if you actually take the time to color it—digitally or not—it shows you put a little bit more work into it and therefore are a little more worthy of winning.)

Note to writers

Hey writers of deviantART, here are the rules for you:
Write a story with something to do with marshmallows. I mean, seriously… you could write a story about an imaginary land where people eat only marshmallows if you really wanted to!
I would prefer if you made them short stories as of the fact that I don’t want to have to read epic novels about…well…marshmallows.
(Helpful hint: Like I already said, keep them fairly short. But also something I’ll have you know is I’ll be looking for errors in grammar and spelling. These things take away “good writer” points when it comes to deciding who will win or not. So you would be better off to type your story up in a Word Document or some such thing that checks your spelling before posting it on deviantART and submitting it to the contest.)

First place: Overall
One person—doesn’t matter if they’re an artist or a writer—gets first place overall. Their prize will be a colored art request. Color? Wow! Such an odd thing in my gallery lately…

Second place: Artists
One person will be awarded with best/second best (depending on what type of entry wins first place overall) picture. They get a non-colored art request. Amazing.

Second place: Writers
One person will be awarded with best/second best (depends on the overall winner) story. Just like with the artists’ one, they get a non-colored art request.

there will also be awards like “cutest picture,” “funniest story,” and other things like that. Though, there won’t be prizes to go with the awards…

And just a side note, you can submit two entries if you want. And if you REALLY want to do more than that, you might be able to convince me to let you do three.
